I have to admit that I'm a liiittle (a lot) protective of my little dog Bowie, I think Montse already noticed that hahaha. Having her be so attentive, sending me videos and photos of how he was doing, really made me feel VERY calm, and Bow was so happy with her!!! I highly recommend her!!! Next week Bow is having vacation with Montse again!!! Thank you for everything!!! :)

I have been leaving Maloo with Luis for around four years now, ever since she was a puppy. It is located in a beautiful peaceful area which suits my dog perfectly as she is used to living in a rural environment. Luis and his staff are courteous, kind and professional. She is always happy to arrive there and see them and always healthy and in a good shape when I collect her. As much as I dislike having to leave her when I travel I am always confident she is happy and being well looked after. I highly recommend this business.

I didn't know the Fontfreda dog boarding facility, but I saw that it had good reviews and decided to contact them, as I had to take my 2 dogs the next day. Lluís got in touch with me right away and made the check-in easy; I sent him the documentation and the next day I took them to the facility. I was worried about my female dog because she is an escape artist, but they were very attentive and sent me pictures for my peace of mind. You can tell they were well cared for and felt right at home. We will definitely use their services again whenever we need them!! Thank you, Lluís!!

Luckily, after speaking on the phone with someone from the boarding kennel, I realized they are far from professional. I have a 15-year-old dog; she is seven kilograms of energy, although it's naturally declining. My dog takes medication every twelve hours for heart issues; she has been taking it for over a year and lives a pretty normal life, she is very well-behaved, never barks, and lives a normal life. When I explained the medication situation to the person on the phone, they started raising issues, asking questions like how her teeth are, because she might bite if they have to give her the medicine and pry her mouth open, etc. I told them there are plenty of ways to give it to her, with a little cheese, sausages, etc., and the response was that no one needs to tell them how to administer medication to dogs since they have 40 years of experience... At that point in the conversation, I didn't want to continue and said goodbye quickly with a not-so-positive feeling about this "professional" and their business. I say business because I believe that's all this facility is, as it seems they only want easy guests = easy money... They are hardly professional at all.

We have been sending our dog there with Luis for three years now, and he always comes back super happy from being in such a big place. Luckily there are no dangerous dogs, so we have peace of mind that nothing will happen. Suuuuper recommended... On the other hand, the people who leave 1 star because he won't take their dog, honestly seem like idiots to me; it's a private business and if the owner doesn't want to, that's that... stop being so fragile, please.

Very disappointed with this boarding facility for not accepting potentially dangerous dog breeds (PPP) like my Staffy, claiming that the fence is 1.4 m high and that they could jump over it. My dog is only 40 cm tall, which makes this justification seem inadequate and unethical to me. I believe that each dog should be assessed on their individual behavior and not on their breed. This policy reflects unjustified discrimination and is a major inconvenience for responsible owners.

When calling the boarding facility, I asked if they had availability for my dog, and to my surprise, they asked for the breed. Getting to the place is not easy if you have a small car, as there are potholes and the road is narrow; you have to be a great driver to go at night. Without lights or signs, it is dangerous since the curves and the steep drop-offs into ravines are significant. On the other hand, we assume the dogs were fine; we couldn't see whether they were taken out for walks or not, only that the kennels were clean and they were healthy upon pickup. That is the most important thing when leaving your furry friends somewhere; the staff looked professional and the dogs looked well. The only downside to keep in mind is the road; paying for the transport service is totally worth it.

We did not like it. I trusted the reviews, which were almost all good, and we were wrong. It was not what we expected. We spoke beforehand and everything was perfect, but on the day of dropping off the dog, when I was already on my way there, they called to change the price on me, claiming the original quote was for the dog to sleep outside (in winter!). Obviously, I agreed to the price increase. Once there, the guy who was with the dogs was not the person I had spoken to, so he knew nothing about my dog. And to top it off, I had asked over the phone if they would send me photos and they said yes, very politely, but when it came down to it they sent me two videos, sent poorly, while telling me that I was being very annoying and that the dog was very poorly trained (a 5-month-old puppy). I was stressed and couldn't enjoy my trip because I chose this place to leave my dog.

From minute zero, I already saw Luis's professionalism, asking me questions about my experience with dogs and how I could care for the puppy. Right after, I went to visit his facilities and meet the puppy. My experience with this business has been unbeatable: documentation, vaccines, etc. After a few days, he checked in on the puppy, his health, etc. He is a lovely person and an animal professional. Thank you so much for everything, 100% recommended for value and quality.

Text copied directly from their website... "Potentially dangerous dog breeds (PPP): because in our play parks, we made the fences 1.40m high so as not to disrupt the natural surroundings, we are forced to decline boarding these breeds, as they would pose a danger to other dogs due to the ease with which they could jump the fence into adjacent parks." Well... then you shouldn't board German Shepherds, Mastiffs, Siberian Huskies, Pointers, or any large breed dog either, given the danger to other dogs. You are labeling a dog by its breed without even knowing it, showing that you are not professionals. A dog is dangerous because of the upbringing and socialization provided by its owners. This lack of socialization is caused by "professionals" like you, who prevent so-called "potentially dangerous breeds" at all costs from playing, running, or sniffing each other with other dogs. You are the problem, not the dogs. In the end, I'm glad I cannot be a customer of yours. Best regards.

EVERYTHING THEY ADVERTISE IN THE PAMPHLET IS A LIE, THEY KEEP THE DOGS LOCKED IN CAGES AND THE 5 DAILY WALKS IS A LIE, IN FACT, I HIGHLY DOUBT THEY EVEN TAKE THEM OUT FOR A SINGLE WALK, THEY DON'T TAKE THEM ON MOUNTAIN WALKS EITHER, WHICH IS SOMETHING THEY ADVERTISE AND IS STATED IN THE PAMPHLET, BESIDES BEING DISRESPECTFUL AND TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE FROM OUT OF TOWN TO CHARGE THEM MORE MONEY FOR THE ANIMALS' STAY. I HOPE THEY SHUT YOUR FACILITY DOWN. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW TODAY THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE WHO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OWNERS' LOVE FOR THEIR FURRY FRIENDS BY PROMISING THEY WILL CARE FOR THEM IN NATURE, GIVING THEM WALKS AND LIES JUST TO MAKE SOME MONEY. I haven't had the pleasure of leaving my dog at this boarding facility, and even if I wanted to, I couldn't, since on their website they refuse to take in dogs classified as potentially dangerous (PPP) for the simple reason that the fence is 1.40m high and PPP dogs could jump over it and cause issues with other dogs... If this person really says this and takes care of dogs, it leaves a lot to be desired. Let me tell you that breed doesn't matter, the individual animal does; any non-PPP dog like a German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Labrador, Golden Retriever, and hundreds of other breeds can jump that kind of fence and cause problems due to their behavior—even a Chihuahua could cause problems due to its behavior. But of course, it's "better safe than sorry so they don't shut your business down" instead of properly managing and giving each dog the place it deserves by evaluating its behavior. Maybe that's more work than just putting out food and water. The day they repeal the PPP law, will you increase the height of the fence?

Paula Del OlmoVerified Google review Posted on 18 March 2022

Looking into this boarding facility, I read that they do not accept "potentially dangerous dog" (PPP) breeds due to the danger of them jumping some fence installed by the ENVIRONMENT department and not for protection... so now it turns out only those dogs know how to jump, regardless of each dog's build. I find it very unprofessional to work in dog boarding and care while denigrating them by breed; anyone with common sense would know that all breeds can be reactive. That depends on each owner's training!!! Even so, I'm glad they make their racism clear on their website, so that we owners of PPPs can prevent them from receiving poor treatment and becoming even "worse" 😉 .

For those complaining that they don't accept potentially dangerous dogs (PPP), first of all, they should have that kind of pet properly trained. Unfortunately, many irresponsible people brag about having these types of dogs but have no clue about pet ownership or the responsibility it entails. So logically, one becomes distrustful—not of the poor dog, but of the owner who tells you that the dog does nothing, but then it's not true and they can cause a lot of problems with other dogs. So I understand that a dog boarding facility might have the right to refuse them.

I haven't used this boarding facility because their website already warns that they do not accept potentially dangerous dogs (PPP). Their description states that the fence is 1.40m high and that the possibility of jumping it would pose a danger to dogs in neighboring houses. First, prejudices against these breeds already tell me a lot about the person who wrote that. Second, couldn't a German Shepherd (which is not classified as a PPP) jump the fence and equally pose a danger to other dogs? Furthermore, if dogs can jump the fence and get lost... what kind of security is this facility actually offering?

You know that any change is stressful for them, but the truth is they handled it wonderfully, to the point that we had a huge problem when picking them up because they didn't want to leave!!!!! I read a review before taking them that made me hesitate, but based on my experience, I can only think that person got the wrong place or wants to do harm.

Whenever we can't take Pancho with us, he stays at Fontfreda. Just seeing how happy he gets when he sees Luis says it all. Highly, highly recommended.

I want to thank Mr. Luis for the seriousness and professionalism he showed regarding this work, which he does to perfection. Thank you so much for taking care of Tano; I am very happy to see him more relaxed and calm, and to know that he was doing well during these days away from home. Now that we have total peace of mind, for our next trip we already know that this will be his place. See you soon! Best regards :)

We are very grateful to have found Luis and his Residence Fontfreda. Due to an emergency, we had to travel unexpectedly. Luis speaks good English and picked up our dog that same night and looked after him for two weeks. Luis and his team work very professionally and have been very patient and understanding with us and with the dog. Our dog had a great time and we would always like to give our dog back to Luis again. We can only recommend Fontfreda! Thank you Luis!

We arrived in Barcelona in 2014 and were fortunate enough to discover Fontfreda via a recommendation, the same year. We travel a lot and it is important that we know are dogs are well cared for when we are away. Luis always arrives personally to collect and return our dogs, and most important they are ALWAYS happy to see him. Luis cares for our dogs as if they were his own and spends time getting to know them. Fontfreda provides a 1st Class facility and we have recommended them to all our friends with pets. Thank you Luis for giving us peace of mind. Georgina Morgan (owner of Pip and Mabel - 2 very happy spaniels)

I am Mari Baena. For 12 years I took my little dog to Luis's boarding kennel. I only have wonderful things to say about the care my dog received, as well as how Luis treats the pet owners. Now, I don't hesitate to take my new little one because I know he will be in the best hands. I recommend to all of you that you trust Luis.

I went on vacation for 15 days and my chihuahua was taken care of perfectly. They picked her up from my house and brought her back home as well, everything as agreed. They gave her her medicine every day, took her for walks, and sent me photos and videos whenever I asked. Truly a 10/10 service. Very attentive. You can tell they love animals and treat them as if they were their own. I recommend them 100%. I will definitely use them again.

My girls (dog and cat) have been there for four months and they are doing great; I went to visit them a month ago and you can tell they are fond of the owner and other workers by how they behave around them. I brought them there to stay for almost a year, and I couldn't be more at ease and confident that they are in good hands. Previously, I had already left my cat for a week and it was the same, everything was very good. It might be a bit expensive for tight budgets, but he offers good prices for long stays. And honestly, if you love your pet, the best thing to do is invest in a quality place like this one and have peace of mind.

My cat has stayed multiple times with Lluis for 1 to 2 weeks at a time, and his service has been great! Lluis has been very accommodating with deliveries to and from Barcelona, and recently since my cat has developed kidney problems, Lluis went above and beyond to ensure that he received his medicine. I will continue to use his services and can recommend it to those looking to place their cat someplace safe during longer vacations.

I've been leaving my cat Duda with them for 4 years whenever I go on vacation. They take great care of her; whenever I ask how she's doing, they reply and let me know if she's stressed or not. Since she's a bit particular, they keep her on her own so she can stay calm. The most important thing is that she comes back happy and perfectly cared for, and I have peace of mind. You can tell they love animals and truly care for them. I recommend this boarding facility 100%. Thank you for everything.

I left my little dog, Pepa, for a month this summer. She came back happy, even a bit chubbier and clean. I was very worried at first, but we called regularly and they told us she was doing great. Without a doubt, I recommend this boarding kennel and I will repeat if I need to again. Thank you so much!! :)

Very good, I recommend it. The cats stay in a house just for them, and my cat adapted very well. The place is very clean and well cared for. They have rooms for cats that are not used to being around other cats.

I am delighted with the care that Lluís and his team give to Zero, an Andalusian Podenco who enjoys the boarding facility's magnificent amenities and attention. I can leave feeling calm and confident because I have full trust in their professionalism. Zero is very happy when I drop him off, he loves it and comes back home happy. Thank you, Lluís, for your dedication!

Ever since I discovered this boarding facility, I only leave my dogs here. They are two Boxers, one is a bit older, and they require quite a bit of care. I've noticed they come back "normal" after staying here. Not like other times, when they would return sad, thin, or with digestive issues. When I leave them here, they are perfect. You can tell they play and can walk around freely when they take them out. I am very happy with the treatment from Luis and the other caretakers. Plus, they send me photos and videos of them. Thank you so much for taking care of Nayat and Hassan whenever I have to go away!

We brought our 11-year-old Labrador, Tro, for 12 days, and it was the first time we left him in the care of anyone other than ourselves. The place is very nice and Lluís took great care of him. He had a wound on his paw and came back with it healed, full of energy, and very happy. Thank you, Lluís, for a job well done.

The first time we went on vacation without our 7-year-old pug. We looked at different options and after reading various reviews, we visited the Fontfreda dog boarding facility, which we loved, both for its location and for the treatment from Lluís, the owner. Our pug spent five luxurious days at this boarding kennel; he came back very happy, and I want to highlight Lluís's communication at all times, sending WhatsApp messages with updates and photos, which we greatly appreciated. He took care of our little dog as if he were his own. Highly recommended, and without a doubt, we will leave him there again whenever we have to go away. Thank you very much Lluís!!!

This is the first time that after leaving our dog Juliette at a boarding facility, she came back without losing weight; at other boardings she would return very thin, but with Luis she didn't lose weight and came back super healthy. We noticed she was very happy, obedient, and more sociable with both dogs and humans—since she tends to be very distrustful of others—and she arrived completely renewed thanks to the special care from Luis and his team. We definitely recommend Residencia Fontfreda 100% for the care of your pets. Thank you so much Luis and team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not recommend leaving your pet with this company at all. We left our dog for about six weeks and he returned in deplorable condition. Specifically, he lost more than 10 kilos and almost an entire canine tooth. The weight loss could be justified by some issue stemming from stress or a change in diet, but that wasn't the case since our dog entered the facility with all his tests in order. As far as the dog's stress or happiness goes, the owner, Lluís, told us at all times that the dog was happy and "playful". On the other hand, the owner failed to meet the return deadlines, delaying the return of the animal by one day, not to mention that on the day he was not delivered, he ignored countless calls to his mobile phone during the hours before and after. I doubt that my family's dissatisfaction stems from a series of mistakes that anyone could make, since the malnutrition he suffered was noticeable and confirmed by a professional in the hours following his return.
